Best New Releases, Jan-Apr 2025

A round up of the best new releases I read January – April 2025.
The Hymn to Dionysus by Natasha Pulley. Released April 2025
Natasha Pulley is one of those author’s whose books always leave you thinking ‘how on earth did they come up with that?’ – and in the best possible way.
This reimagining of the story of Dionysus – the ancient Greek God of wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and wild frenzy – is thoroughly entertaining and written in Natasha’s typical gripping style.

A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett. Released 1 April 2025
The second in the Shadow of the Leviathan series, A Drop of Corruption sees investigator Ana Dolabra and her assistant Din sent once again to investigate what seems another impossible crime.
As witty and entertaining as the fist book – The Tainted Cup – a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The Morrigan by Kim Curran. Released 6 February 2025
Another retelling – this time of Ireland’s mythic goddess of War.
In her own voice, The Morrigan tells her story which spans thousands of years from her arrival amongst a tribe of gods to Irish shores, through countless rulers battling for power, and a rage that never dies.

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins. Released 18 March 2025
Suzanne Collins’ second prequel to the original Hunger Games Trilogy – the 50th Hunger Games, the second quarter-quell, Haymitch’s Games.
Bringing together so many elements from the original trilogy to provide the wider context, Sunrise on the Reaping is just as gripping as the original trilogy with Suzanne Collins’ writing style drawing you into Haymitch’s story from the start.
